The “Smoke Signals of the Future: Information From the Roots” conference in Winnipeg had two presentations on the agenda from FMCC representatives. Both presentations were made by video / skype to participants in Winnipeg. Participants at the conference included members of First Nations across Manitoba with a strong representation from youth.
On February 8, FMCC vice-chair Susan O’Donnell spoke about “First Nations Community Broadband: Updates on Research, Policy and New Funding Support from the CRTC. On February 9, FMCC coordinator Rob McMahon spoke about “Digital Literacy.”
The conference was organized by the First Nations Health and Social Services Secretariat of Manitoba, an FMCC member organization. Bill Murdoch, FMCC representative was a conference coordinator.
